Athletix, Inc. has signed a purchase agreement to acquire the brand name, inventory, and certain related assets of Betlin, Inc. Betlin has been a producer of custom athletic team uniforms since 1974.

This agreement covers ownership of the Betlin names for all products including its full line of custom athletic team uniforms. It also includes the manufacture of uniforms licensed under an agreement with adidas America bearing the adidas logo.

Athletix, which was founded by Rob Burnham in 1986, was sold to Betlin in 2001 and repurchased in 2005. Athletix anticipates that the current transaction will be completed by the end of November.

“This acquisition will strengthen the position of both the Betlin and Athletix brands, ” said Burnham, owner and CEO of Athletix, Inc. “Betlin has been a respected member of the custom team uniform industry for over 30 years. The consolidation of the strength of the Betlin tradition with the Athletix commitment to being the most responsive custom team uniform manufacturer in America should serve our customers well. Also, our close relationship with Betlin since 2001 and our experience with production of adidas team uniforms since 2003 will lay the groundwork for a relatively seamless transition.”

Once the acquisition is complete, Athletix plans to move equipment and resources to its manufacturing facility in Kosciusko, Mississippi. The Betlin line will be added to the company’s Athletix, CheerKids and Athletix Cheer lines which are sold by athletic team dealers and retailers in all 50 states through a network of independent sales representatives.
