Asics America Corp. opened its doors to a new location in the heart of Waikiki at International Market Place.
The new store design brings to life innovation and technical distinction while offering performance footwear, apparel and accessories to amplify consumers’ pursuit of total health and fitness.
Asics is the acronym for ‘Anima Sana In Corpore Sano’, and the store’s consumer journey reflects the harmony of this philosophy. The space balances the highly technical aspects of the brand’s products – a sound body – with natural, warm finishes, features and materials – a sound mind – resulting in an environment that immerses customers in a world where both the mind and body are stimulated. Asics is elevating the consumer experience and service with a unique retail concept that is reflected in the brand’s new stores and across point of sale areas globally.
A short 5-minute walk from Waikiki Beach, The Asics Store at International Market Place features an exterior display of native plants and flowers to soften the retail setting and pay homage to the local environment. A striking mural, custom created by Hawaiian artist Kamea Hadar, is on full display, captivating consumers with a piece that features Hadar’s signature street art aesthetic and plays into the duality of heritage and culture inherent to both Hadar and Asics.
In addition to the inviting aesthetic, the new Asics retail concept aims to include sustainability considerations as well as durable hangers made from 50 percent recycled plastics and 50 percent grass, LED lighting and flooring and wood fixtures made from natural wood. Building on the botanical touches and sustainable features of the space, the brand will also offer Asics MOTION IDTM, an innovation element inherent to Asics DNA. Asics MOTION ID is a shoe-selection service which uses a series of high-tech motion sensors to capture consumer’s natural posture and style of movement when running.
