Alterra Mountain Company has hired Dee Byrne as the new president & COO of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows (SVAM) based in Olympic Valley, CA, effective immediately. Byrne will be responsible for operations, driving profitability and evolving the destination on a global scale. She will report to Mark Brownlie, COO, Mountains, Alterra Mountain Company.
Byrne has worked in the ski industry for over 30 years and has held positions across mountains and brands. She joined SVAM in 2011 as managing director of its snowsports schools and ski teams and was promoted to vice president of Skier Services in 2017 where she was responsible for overseeing guest experience, ski and snowboard teams, ski and snowboard schools, competition services, ticketing/contact center, non-ski activities, and mountain hosts. Byrn also serves on multiple Boards of Directors and is an advisor to PSIA on national and divisional levels and received its PSIA/AASI’s National Distinguished Service Award in April 2020.
