Adidas Outdoor named Loren Gwartney-Gibbs its key accounts manager for the U.S. Gwartney-Gibbs has more than 10 years of experience in retail and sales of both hard and soft goods for the specialty outdoor category. His new position will focus on national accounts, with the appointment effective immediately.
“Loren has always been a driving force on our sales team since he began supporting Adidas Outdoor more than three years ago, leveraging his strong background in retail management and comprehensive understanding of buying trends and consumer buying habits,” said Greg Thomsen, managing director of Adidas Outdoor U.S. “This combined with his drive, results-oriented approach and passion for the outdoors will be essential for his role of creating and maintaining relationships with retailers.”
Prior to joining Adidas Outdoor, Gwartney-Gibbs worked with Recreational Resources as an independent sales representative out of Boulder, Colo., focusing on Adidas Outdoor, Five Ten, Merrell, Mountain Khakis and Ryan Michael & Barn Fly Trading. Previously, he served as a floor manager and category buyer for The Ute Mountaineer in Aspen, Colo., as well as store manager and hard goods buyer for McKenzie Outfitters in Eugene, Ore.
An avid outdoorsman and climber, Gwartney-Gibbs has completed a 1,000-mile backpacking trip on the Pacific Crest Trail, was a member of the U.S. Junior National Rock Climbing Team and worked as a head coach at The Crux Rock Gym in Eugene, Ore., training and mentoring youth climbers.
