adidas-Salomon has signed a far-reaching partnership deal with sporting goods retailing powerhouse Intersport. The specific terms of the four-year agreement with the operator of over 4,500 retail doors were not revealed. Intersport reportedly produced 6.6 billion ($6.24 billion) in sales in 25 countries in 2002.
adidas said in a release on its Web site that the deal will help increase sales of both adidas and Salomon products and “strengthen Intersports (sic) position as an authentic professional multisport retailer.”
The agreement calls for a dedicated adidas and Salomon dedicated account management team to manage the business going forward. adidas is also expected to “offer a customized European product range”.
Joint international marketing and event partnerships are also part of the deal.
