Cycling has always lived in the soul of the Adidas brand from the early 1950s when Adi Dassler began creating cycling footwear. And so, Adidas has decided to get back into the cycling business with its Road Shoe.
In communicating with the cycling communities in Los Angeles, London and Germany, Adidas found that there was a demand for a versatile shoe that fits with today’s consumers both on and off the bike.
Inspired by its iconic silhouettes, the plate of its latest Road Shoe takes elements from the brand’s football boot designs using recycled material with added fiberglass elements for stiffness in the soleplate without added weight.
The upper is made with PrimeGreen, a 100 percent recycled material shaped to provide an intuitive feel and function. The lace tightening system and toggle ensure that cyclists are able to lock in for a customized fit.
For versatility, the lead colorway is Adidas’ iconic black with white detailing. Additional colors are planned for 2021.
