Ken Spires has accepted the position of president of the M. J. Soffe Co. effective immediately. Ken is currently VP of Technical Services for Delta Apparel, Inc., the parent company of M. J. Soffe. In his new position, Ken will report to Jim Soffe, CEO of M. J. Soffe.
As President of M. J. Soffe Co. Ken will be responsible for the sales and marketing, operations and distribution, manufacturing, planning, and the art department. Joe Cimaglia, Ray Edwards, Pete Gilman, Hunter McMillan, and Steve Wheeler from the sales area will report directly to Ken. Also reporting to Ken will be Tony Cimaglia, Vice President of Operations, Dick Soffe, Executive Vice President of Manufacturing, Johnny Mabry, Vice President of Apparel and Planning, and Dave Robertson, Art Manager.
Commenting on the addition of Ken Spires, Jim Soffe said, “We are looking forward to having Ken as a member of the Soffe management team. This is a part of our strategy to provide effective leadership that will assist us in the transition from a private company to a publicly traded company. In order to insure we are successful in the change in leadership, I have agreed to extend my stay with the Company beyond my original three-year contract to assist Ken and his management team as they assume their new duties.”
Ken joined Delta Apparel, Inc. in 1993. During his tenure, Ken has successfully lead many areas of the Company including product development, merchandising, apparel manufacturing, industrial engineering, process improvement, quality assurance, distribution, and purchasing. Prior to joining the Company his experience included twelve years of service at Milliken & Company in various management positions as well as designing and implementing quality management systems for various companies.
