Moosejaw opened a new seasonal shop for the holidays Oct. 16 in the heart of downtown Detroit’s Woodward Avenue Retail District that features a wide assortment of The North Face and Patagonia brands.
The shop is located at 1441 Woodward Avenue, between Grand River and Clifford, less than a block north of Moosejaw’s permanent location on the corner of Grand River and Woodward. Moosejaw partnered with Bedrock Real Estate Services to secure the 4,000 square foot space through the holiday season.
“The dedicated space will allow us to carry many more styles in these brands than we could in a regular store that has 40 or 50 brands,” explains Nick Rau, Moosejaw’s Director of Retail. “Fans of The North Face and Patagonia will be able to see special, hard-to-find styles rarely seen in stores.”
If this all sounds familiar, that’s because Moosejaw’s current downtown location (at 1275 Woodward Avenue) originally started as a pop-up shop in November 2012. It was so successful, Moosejaw made the store permanent in March 2013, steadily adding days and hours until it was open seven days-a-week by 2014.
“Our downtown store has become so popular that we need even more space to show off all of the cool new winter styles from the hottest outdoor brands,” said Eoin Comerford, Moosejaw’s President & CEO. “We approached our friends at Bedrock about adding a seasonal space where we could offer even more great outerwear brands during the cold winter months and they worked with us to make this happen.”
The new The North Face/Patagonia concept came together in less than six weeks from the initial site visit to the upcoming store opening.
“When Moosejaw approached us, we were excited to get involved,” said Dan Mullen, Executive Vice President of Bedrock Real Estate Services. “This is a great opportunity for them to showcase additional styles and brands downtown Detroit shoppers will love. The new shop will be a great addition to our collection of unique, innovative retailers on Woodward Avenue.”
The North Face/Patagonia seasonal shop will be open seven days a week and will match Moosejaw’s permanent store hours, Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Sunday, 12 p.m.-5 p.m.. Stay tuned for our grand opening party on October 24th from 2-7pm.
