Team Sportia, already the largest purchasing group for bicycle retailers in Sweden, will greatly increase its purchasing powerSept. 1 when it begins buying for the 45-store Tvåhjulsmästarna chain.
Team Sportia already buys for BikePartner, which operates 35 stores in Sweden.
“We are currently in the process of certifying all Team Sportia stores that sell bicycles and by incorporating Tvåhjulsmästarna we get another 45 skilled bicycle dealers who bring knowledge to the organization and strengthen our concept,” said Richard Westerlund, Deputy CEO of Team Sportia and the man who negotiated the deal. “Besides it is obvious that an increased number of stores gives us even better possibilities to buy the right products at the right price, which will result in an even stronger offer to our customers.”
Team Sportia consists of about 90 stores, of which 60 are selling bicycles. Along with BikePartner and Tvåhjulsmästarna, whose stores will retain their current names, the organization will have about 150 skilled bicycle dealers making the chain the largest reseller of bikes in Sweden.
“Sure, it is beneficial to be a large buying organization, but what’s even more important is that it is a big step in our expansion within the cycling segment and our commitment to the sport of cycling,” said Westerlund. “For example, we recently signed a sponsorship agreement with Lidingöloppet concerning their mountain bike race and in September we look forward to be part of a milestone in the sport of cycling in Sweden as the main sponsor of Velothon Stockholm. It is clear that Tvåhjulsmästarna and their skilful store fits perfectly into this venture.”
