Running Room opened its first store in the city of Montreal. The company now has 92 corporately owned stores, largely in Canada. It has seven stores in Minnesota and one in Iowa.
The Montreal Gazette, in an interview with founder John Stanton, noted that the opening of Montreal store, which debuted in August, reflects the Running Room's strategy of opening in suburban areas before moving into downtown markets such as both Toronto and Montreal. The founder also said he is considering bigger markets in the U.S. like Boston.
