Johnson-Lambe, the team and trophy dealer based in Raleigh, NC, told
the Associated Press that sales were down 7% in 2009 after it generated
record years in 2008 and 2007. The article celebrated the company’s 75
anniversary.

“This year was down, but less than the industry, and we were coming off the biggest year we ever had,” Rhett Johnson told the newswire.
 
The company is now run by brothers Josh and Rhett Johnson, representing
the third generation of the Johnson family to run the business. Phil,
their father, 75, is still the company CEO although he’s
semi-retired.

Among other details, the article notes that the company finally built  Web site last year, and it started a Facebook page last month. The company has also been more aggressive in expanding its number of roadmen and also expanding the territory in which it is looking for
customers.

“We needed more sales volume to compete with big boxes and market
share,” Rhett Johnson said. “We wanted to be the dominant player. It
didnt necessarily make us richer, but it made us stronger.”

The company also is looking for an increased awareness campaign will drive sales in the future.

“We dont want to take over the world,” Rhett Johnson said, “but there’s a lot of territory we havent covered.”
