Anta Sports Products, Ltd. (Group), which runs retail stores in China for the Anta brand, Fila, Descente, Kolon Sport, and Amer Sports, reported that retail sales, in retail value, for the Fila brand increased in high-single-digits year-over-year in the first quarter, a sharp moderation from the strong double-digit 2023 fourth quarter and the high-teens trend for the full year.
Retail sales for the Anta brand in the first quarter of 2024 increased mid-single-digits compared to Q1 2023, also representing a moderation from its high-teens growth in the 2023 fourth quarter.
All Other Brands, including Descente and Kolon Sport, excluding Amer Sports Corp. businesses under Amer Sports Holding, (Cayman) Ltd.’s joint venture, saw first-quarter retail sales increase 25 percent to 30 percent versus the prior-year quarter, a trend that was less than half the 70 percent to 75 percent trend in the 2023 fourth quarter.
The company said retail sales refer to the revenue, inclusive of value-added tax, if any, from sales to consumers transacted in brick-and-mortar stores and e-commerce platforms, part of which are owned and operated by the Group and the rest being owned and operated by the Group’s distributors, franchisees and/or distributors’ franchisees.
Retail sales do not represent the Group’s total revenue, and the Group considers the same to be a business operational indicator of the Group’s various brands.
