Jaybird, a maker of wireless headphones, announced its partnership with professional bike racer, Kate Courtney. Courtney is the current Elite XC World Cup Overall Champion and the 2018 World Champion—the first American to hold those titles since 1991. She is also a member of the Scott-Sram MTB Racing Team and will represent the U.S. at the 2021 Olympic Games.
Through the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), Courtney recently launched a scholarship called the Sparkle On Scholarship, recognizing and supporting student-athletes who have demonstrated academic and athletic excellence and plan to attend college and continue mountain biking. Jaybird has made a donation to the Foundation to create new opportunities for participating students with additional resources to continue cycling while in school.
“Kate exemplifies what it means to simply be the best on and off the course,” said Russell Nadel, head of partnerships, Jaybird. “Kate’s passion, intensity and willingness to break down barriers as a trailblazer in cycling is admirable. We couldn’t be more proud to support her and her work with the Sparkle On Foundation to pave the way forward for aspiring racers and promote the growth of the sport, particularly among women and girls. We’re excited to be sharing her stories with the world.”
