K2 Sports celebrated the completion of its new 310,000-square-foot headquarters in Seattle with a snow-shoveling ceremony with Washington governor, Chris Gregoire. K2 began construction on the office space inside the facility located in Seattles SODO district in September 2006.
During the past year, the company closed its former headquarters on Vashon Island, WA, which had been in operation since 1961, and relocated 220 employees from Vashon, and divisions in California and Vermont, into the new Seattle facility. The new headquarters houses all of K2 Sports U.S. operations under one roof for the first time in company history.
Separately, K2 Sports inked an international licensing agreement with Torspo International, a European hockey company. Torspo will produce and market K2 recreational ice skates under the newly created K2 Ice brand. Through the licensing agreement, Torspo will have access to K2s technology and global manufacturing sources. In addition, Torspo may partner with the K2 channels of distribution in North America, Europe and Russia. K2 Ice recreational skates will be sold through specialty and sporting goods stores in North America and through select distributors in Europe and Russia beginning in fall 2008.
