John Stahler, chairman and CEO of the Tecnica Group, North America, will step down from that post on October 1. Peter Weaver, a former CEO of Marker International, has been selected to replace Stahler as the new CEO of the Tecnica Group, North America. Weaver is currently the owner of Pharmaceutical Research Organization in Salt Lake City and prior to that served as CEO of Marker International. Weaver has had several stints at Marker dating as far back as 1983 working in Germany, Switzerland and the US. Weaver was also President of Easton Technical Products, a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of consumer sporting goods with products ranging from archery to camping.
“There are some big shoes to fill at Tecnica and Im honored to have an opportunity to build on the legacy John is leaving behind,” said Weaver. “There is a stable of great brands, supported by a team of outstanding people. The products stand for superb quality and are sought by athletes that perform at the highest levels; its a heritage that Im excited to build on,” said Weaver.
Stahler started building this stable of brands in 1976 when he partnered with Tecnica SpA to run the Tecnica business in the US. From there he started assembling a collection of brands including Volkl ski and tennis, which he brought into the fold in 1992, Marker in 2001 as well as Donnay USA which was part of the package from 1976-88. Volkl and Marker were sold out of the portfolio in 2004.
“This has been a lot of fun,” said Stahler. “I did for work what other people work to do.”
Giancarlo Zanatta, Chairman of the Tecnica Group in Italy who has partnered with Stahler in building the Tecnica Group in the United States, said he is sorry to see Stahler step down but noted he has a past working relationship with Weaver and expects a seamless transition. “John has been a great friend and business partner over the past 31 years and Ill miss the working relationship that we had,” he said. “I have had the opportunity to work with Peter when he was running Marker and I look forward to resuming that relationship.”
Weaver will be based at the Tecnica USA headquarters in West Lebanon NH.
