Grand Trunk, the hammock and adventure travel goods business based in Skokie, IL, has been acquired by a team of Utah-based entrepreneurs. Co-founder, Kevin Kaiser will remain with the business moving forward.

The new team will bring extensive outdoor industry experience to the business providing resources for expanded product offerings and distribution to better serve its customers.

The new owners include Andy Stroman, founder of the outdoor specialty retailer CampSaver.com, and brothers Bruce and Dale Majors, who previously built and grew Bikewagon.com.

The business was founded in 2001 as The Travel Hammock and rebranded in 2010 as Grand Trunk to capture its growth in travel goods and accessories.

“We believe Grand Trunk has just begun to tap it’s potential in the outdoor and adventure travel market. Getting outdoors has never been more popular than it is today, we’re excited to expand our product offering to match our brand mission of providing “Goods For The Road”. I am also excited to be working with a great group of people who know the industry and can help Grand Trunk grow.” said Kaiser.

“We are thrilled to partner with Kevin and Grand Trunk. We’re impressed by the strong brand and success that has been achieved in the outdoor market. Our collective vision aligns and we’re excited to help grow this exciting company.” stated Stroman on the transaction.

The deal was completed in May 2020, and the business has continued to fulfill orders and offer customer service during the heightened demand for outdoor products during the COVID19 pandemic. Starting July 10, the company’s headquarters will be in the Salt Lake City area.

Grand Trunk was advised by Bell Lap Advisors and Newpoint Advisors on the process.
