At the end of March, 2007, Vans will be closing its Distribution Center operations in Santa Fe Springs, CA, moving the operations to the new facility opened in Visalia, CA by VF Corporation’s Outdoor Coalition. The 800,000-square-foot distribution center in Visalia, CA, opened in May 2006. This new Distribution Center will eventually handle all Vans domestic distribution needs.
“Basically, Vans is bursting at the seams in our current facilities,” said Chris Overholser, senior communication manager for Vans. “Last year, we leased two additional buildings in our current location to allow for the growth in our apparel and sales departments as well as additional Distribution Center
requirements. As a result of Vans growing distribution needs along with those of other brands in the Outdoor Coalition including The North Face and Reef, we will be moving our distribution to a new facility in Visalia, CA.”
Olverholser also noted that Vans is “very likely” to move its headquarters, currently in Santa Fe Springs, CA, to a location in Orange County in the next six to 12 months.
As Vans gets closer to the closure date, the company will be assisting affected employees in any way possible to obtain employment after the closure. Severance benefits will also be made available to employees affected by the closure.
