Gazelle Bikes, the 125-year-old Dutch brand, has bolstered the company’s sales management team with the hiring of Jim Mercier as Eastern regional sales manager to help meet the increased demand and growth goals of their line of electric bikes.
With more than 30 years’ experience in the cycling industry as a retail owner/operator, sales representative and regional sales manager, Mercier is uniquely qualified to meet the demands of the electric bike market and move the Gazelle brand towards accomplishing their long-term goals in the U.S. and Canadian markets. Mercier will collaboratively work with current management to develop sales strategy and co-lead a sales team dedicated to supporting and opening new retail doors while expanding brand awareness.
“The Gazelle team is a growing, diverse and committed family of electric bike enthusiasts, and Jim joins Gazelle with a wealth of experience that exemplifies what it means to be an industry veteran,” said Ewoud van Leeuwen, manager of Gazelle North America. “Jim’s addition to the team reconfirms our commitment to bring the best support to our sales representatives, retailers and customers across the continent.”
Jim will work remotely from his home office in New England and be responsible for a territory that encompasses North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and all states east of the Mississippi River. He will also manage Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec in Canada. Current Sales Manager Shane Armando will transition to Western regional sales manager in Gazelle Bike’s Santa Cruz, CA, headquarters and remain focused on growing brand presence and driving sales in western North America.
“Gazelle’s very authentic history is the history of Dutch commuting culture, and they’ve built incredible momentum and customer loyalty in the North American market in recent years,” said Mercier. “I’m excited to bring my experience to the Gazelle team and develop a sales program that expands and supports sustainable, long-term growth to get more consumers riding their bikes and enjoying electric bike culture.”
Gazelle Bikes continues to stay committed to the North American market and is seeking new retail partners. Interested retailers should contact their local Gazelle Bikes Sales Representative or their Gazelle Bikes Regional Sales Manager for more information.
