Adidas Originals announced Adidas Originals Chicago, a new flagship and its largest store worldwide.
Located in the heart of Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, the 4,966 square foot space is designed to generate a localized, community-centric experience that pays homage to the pulse of the city’s streets. The store offers consumers the best of the Adidas Originals brand while spotlighting native creators and the impact they have on their surrounding communities.
“The Adidas Originals flagship store in Chicago shows our ongoing commitment to exploring new and innovative ways to be part of the local community,” explains Pascha Naderi-Nejad, senior brand director Adidas Originals. “Now our largest Adidas Originals store in the world, everything about it exemplifies how we partner with creators who have shared values and an ability to push the bounds of creativity. We’re continuously inspired by Chicago, and the store enables us to celebrate the pioneering culture and creativity the city has to offer. We are excited to be based in Wicker Park and look forward to building new relationships in the neighborhood.”
Inspired by the city and reinforcing Adidas’ commitment to Chicago’s Wicker Park streetwear enthusiasts, the Adidas Originals Chicago store features custom artwork and installations created by Chicago natives POSE and Tubsz, and Chicago-based non-profit organization iPaintMyMind will showcase work from a range of up-and-coming local artists on a continuous, rotational basis. A Community Wall will provide customers with an interactive way to share and learn about upcoming local events, shows and product releases.
Other highlights of the unique space is a special fitting room that takes design cues from the materials and route of Chicago’s L Train. All walls of the fitting room are wrapped with ribbed brushed steel and feature other design details reminiscent of the city’s famed train cars. The room features a bench that is modeled after the same benches found at all CTA stations. Also inspired by the city’s public transit is custom signage placed throughout the store, mirroring those displayed along Chicago’s iconic L Train line and its accompanying stations.
As part of the new store launch, a limited-edition EQT ADV SUPPORT Wicker Park was created and is available to reserve in Chicago only through the Adidas Confirmed app. Upon reserving, customers will be invited to pick up their pair of the shoe at the new Adidas Originals Chicago Flagship store on opening day. Shoppers will regularly have access to the brand’s most covetable footwear releases including the NMD, Stan Smith, Tubular and more. Adidas Originals Chicago also plays host to a Statement area featuring Consortium products and special collaborations such as Alexander Wang, White Mountaineering, Spezial and Mastermind Japan.
On the evening of October 4 and continuing in the spirit of creating a localized, community-centric experience, Adidas Originals hosted a premium in-store event that was catered by Chicago’s famous Nini’s Deli and Harold’s Chicken. Additionally, the opening celebration featured special live performances from BJ The Chicago Kid, Knox Fortune, and DJ ELZ.
