Zumiez reported March same-store sales decreased 2.9 percent. Total sales increased 4.3 percent to $63.6 million. In the prior year, comparable store sales increased 2.1 percent.

The action sports retailer said it expects the Easter shift to be a detriment to comparable store sales results in March and a benefit to April.

Dollars per transaction were down for the 5-week period due to a decrease in average unit retail, partially offset by an increase in units per transaction. Among categories, footwear, men's and boys posted negative comps while accessories, hard goods and juniors posted positive comps.

Quarter-to-date comparable store sales decreased 0.8 percent compared to a quarter-to-date decrease of 2.7 percent in the prior year.
