Wolverine World Wide, Inc. announced that James D. Zwiers has been appointed by the Company's Board of Directors as General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. He replaces Blake W. Krueger, who was appointed President of the Company's CAT Footwear Group in November of 2003.
Commenting on the appointment, Stephen L. Gulis Jr., Executive Vice President and CFO, stated, “Jim's legal and financial experience, both as an attorney and formerly as a CPA, uniquely qualify him for the challenges and opportunities facing the Company. Jim has played a lead role in the Company's acquisition, licensing, distribution, litigation, asset protection and operating activities in his role as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. Jim has also earned a reputation for integrity and excellence in the industry, and I am confident that he will serve the Company and its shareholders well in his new role as General Counsel.”
“I look forward to advising the Company in my new role and working with management to lead and challenge the company as we pursue the domestic and international opportunities that lie ahead,” stated Zwiers. “Wolverine has the top portfolio of non-athletic footwear brands in the industry and a geographic scope that provides great diversity and growth potential. I am proud of both the Company's achievements and the way in which it has attained those achievements over its 120 year history.”
Zwiers is a graduate of Calvin College and the University of Michigan Law School.
