Wilson Racquet Sports has named Bill Severa as the Director of Technology for the Racquet Sports newly formed Innovations & Design Group. Severa, who has been with Wilson for 21 years, was the Senior Designer for the last seven years. He started with Wilson making racquets at the Chicago factory as a college student at DePaul, and then was hired on as a Technician and eventually became Designer.


He has worked on Profile, Hammer, Pro Staff MS and has 13 U.S. patents under his belt, patents such as the popular Sledgehammer, Power Holes and TRIAD technologies. Severa also opened the Pro Room during his tenure to better service and support the touring pros.

Together, the dynamic Innovations & Design Group holds 16 patents (3 pending). Located in the Chicago headquarters, the Innovations & Design Group is responsible for all performance and pre-strung racquets from start to finish, from design and concept, to play testing new technologies. They also handle all stringing aspects and the string itself.


The group utilizes four engineers for the various product categories. Dan Hernandez, Principle Engineer, is the Project Manager for Racquetball, Squash and Paddle. Mark Lin, Principle Engineer, is the Test Lab Supervisor and Project Manager for Badminton. Mike Moon, Principle Engineer, is Project Manager for Recreational Racquets and Don Loeffler, Design Engineer, is the Project Manager for Performance Rackets.

Ron Rocchi, Principal Designer, is the Global Tour Equipment Manager, responsible for servicing and customizing all racquets for the touring pros. Klara Nowak, Designer, is the Prototype Manager. And Dawn Cacioppo, Lab technician, is the Master Racquet Technician.
