In a letter to the Department of Workforce Development, Wigwam Mills said approximately 121 of its 142 employees will be laid off due to the “adverse impact” COVID-19 has had on its operations and sales.

State and federal law require notices of mass layoffs. Wigwam, however, said in its letter that it was unable to provide the 60-day advance notice because of the “unforeseen adverse circumstances.”

Chris Chesebro, GM of operations at Wigwam Mills told the Sheboygan Press that Wigwam Mills will focus on more streamlined products and will relocate some production to other parts of the U.S. Chesebro noted that e-commerce has seen an uptick. He said, “We foresee that as a future channel that we’re going to be focusing on.”
