For the second time in a month, Wellman, Inc. announced a 4 cent per pound price hike in its Fortrel polyester staple fiber products. The latest price hike takes effect with July 14, 2008 shipments.
“The rise in crude oil prices, to record high levels, continues to place upward pricing pressure on our energy and raw material costs, particularly paraxylene costs, which are rising to unprecedented high levels,” said Steve Ates, VP sales and marketing. “This additional price increase is necessary to offset these escalating costs.”
