Scott Turner, Walmart’s director of e-commerce of two and a half years, has Rockets of Awesome, the growing children’s apparel company. In February, Foot Locker acquired a minority stake in the New York-based company.

Turner has taken the position of senior vice president for marketing and customer with the brand, effective July 22.

“On a personal level, I’ve been wanting to work for a smaller company and start-up … getting into something more specialty,” Turner told CNBC. In his new role, the executive will lead site, marketing, creative and customer service for the children’s clothing brand, reporting to COO Anneke Jong and CEO Rachel Blumenthal.

In February, Foot Locker made a $12.5 million minority investment in Launch Kids, Inc., d/b/a Rockets of Awesome. Foot Locker’s investment was part of Rockets of Awesome’s $19.5 million Series C capital raise.  As part of the partnership, Kids Foot Locker will create exclusive Rockets of Awesome shop-in-shop destinations and be the largest retailer of Rockets of Awesome products in the U.S. Rockets of Awesome merchandise will also be available on kidsfootlocker.com.

Blumenthal founded Rockets of Awesome in 2016 as a quarterly clothing subscription box service, intending to provide parents a solution for children as they quickly outgrow clothing sizes. The brand has since expanded to offer items to be purchased separately. Rockets of Awesome will soon open its first brick-and-mortar store in New York City.
