Wal-Mart Stores' net sales for the four-week period ending August 27, 2004, of $21.199 billion, an increase of 8.8 percent over the $19.490 billion in the same four-week period in the prior year. Sales for the thirty-week
period were $156.264 billion, an increase of 11.6 percent over $140.007 billion in the similar period in the prior year.
The Wal-Mart Division's sales for the four-week period were
$14.296 billion, up 7.0 percent over sales of $13.362 billion in the same
four-week period in the prior year. The Division's sales for the thirty weeks
of $104.889 billion were up 10.2 percent over $95.159 billion in the similar
prior-year period.
SAM'S CLUB sales for the four-week period were $2.756 billion, up
4.0 percent over sales of $2.651 billion in the same four-week period in the
prior year. Club sales for the thirty weeks of $20.842 billion were up
8.9 percent over the $19.133 billion in the similar prior-year period.
The International Division's sales for the four-week period were
$4.147 billion, up 19.3 percent over sales of $3.477 billion in the same four-
week period in the prior year. The Division's sales for the thirty weeks of
$30.533 billion were up 18.7 percent over the $25.715 billion in the similar
prior-year period.
Comparable sales for the periods ending August 27, 2004 and
August 29, 2003, were as follows:
