DVH Sports in Newport News, VA, is closing after 33 years. DVF Sports
opened in 1976 near Newmarket North. The store moved to its
current location, in the Denbigh Village Centre at 14346 Warwick Blvd.,
in 1991, according to the local newspaper, Daily Press.
Marc Farina, part owner and general manager, attributed the closing to
the economy and competition from Internet sales. About 88% of the
company's business comes from school systems and youth leagues.
