VF Corp. said in a statement Monday it will extend “full pay and benefits to all retail associates in the U.S., Canada and Mexico through May 30” as the company prepares a careful and coordinated strategy for reopening some North American offices and owned retail stores.

Here is the company’s statement:

“With parts of the world slowly emerging from the immediate COVID-19 crisis and as provincial, state and local governments begin to share their individual plans for reopening their economies, VF is preparing a careful and coordinated strategy for reopening some of our North American offices and owned retail stores in areas where we have confidence that we can do so safely and in accordance with local requirements.

“To continue supporting our North American retail employees as their stores remain temporarily closed, VF is further extending full pay and benefits to all retail associates in the U.S., Canada and Mexico through May 30.

“In addition, VF is increasing pay through July for our US and Canada distribution center associates who continue to enable our brands and businesses to serve our consumers and e-commerce business.

“As we plan for the eventual re-opening of select offices and retail locations, we remain cautiously optimistic. We will only proceed with our re-opening plans in locations where we can ensure a safe and healthy return for our employees and consumers. In the interim, we’re pleased to continue supporting our North American retail employees with full pay and benefits through May 30, and enhanced pay and benefits for our US and Canadian distribution center employees through July.”
