VF Corp., the parent of The North Face and Vans, has reached an agreement to acquire the trademarks and intellectual property of Rock and Republic, a California-based fashion denim company that fell into bankruptcy.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under the deal, VF will purchase the Rock and Republic brand name but not its retail stores or business operations. The deal, expected to close in the spring, is subject to bankruptcy court approval.

VF's other brands include Wrangler, Lee, Nautica, 7 For All Mankind, Eagle Creek, Eastpak, Ella Moss, JanSport, lucy, John Varvatos, Kipling, Majestic, Napapijri, Red Kap, Reef, Riders and Splendid.
