USA BMX, the world’s largest BMX racing organization, has partnered with Mongoose to bring their educational programming into schools across the country. Each one of these programs focuses on STEM education through hands-on, project-based learning concepts.
Students are learning new ways of seeing science, technology, engineering, and math all through the lens of a BMX bike. More than 225,000 students will be reached in 2019 as a direct result of this collaboration with Mongoose.
“I am from the generation where the name Mongoose is iconic,” said USA BMX Foundation’s Executive Director, Mike Duvarney. “Partnering with such a legendary brand will allow us to reach more schools and more students, effectively doubling the number of students we will impact.”
Senior Marketing Director of Mongoose, Milissa Rick, commented: “Mongoose has long admired the efforts of the USA BMX Foundation to help make learning fun for kids through BMX-inspired educational programs. Mongoose is honored to partner with the Foundation on these important programs as we share the same vision of helping kids live a healthier, more active lifestyle through cycling.”
In addition to supporting the educational programs, Mongoose has added nine-time USA BMX Amateur National Champion and USA BMX Foundation marketing coordinator, Justin Posey (Winston-Salem, NC), to the Mongoose team as a sponsored rider and education ambassador. While Mongoose has deep roots in BMX racing having sponsored several legends of sport dating back to the mid-70s, Posey is the brand’s first BMX racing pro in 13 years.
“From the amateur days to now racing professionally, I have enjoyed the process of racing and competing against the fastest BMX riders from around the world,” said Posey. “I am now thrilled to continue my pro career with an awesome company like Mongoose while working part-time with USA BMX Foundation. My goal alongside Mongoose is to grow the educational programs the foundation offers to as many kids as we can while looking for ways to help expand the great sport of BMX!”
Mongoose Team Manager Leigh Ramsdell: “It’s exciting to have a pro BMX racer back on Mongoose, especially someone of Justin’s caliber. He has such a positive attitude and is a great role model to up-and-coming BMXers. Plus, he’s simply amazing on a bike! We’re pumped to have Justin aboard Team Mongoose!”
Founded in 1977, the American Bicycle Association (ABA) has more than 70,000 members racing at more than 300 sanctioned tracks across North America where United States operations conducted under the brand USA BMX and Canadian operations are known as BMX Canada.
