Upventur, a social platform for the outdoor and travel space, has acquired Yonder, an app built to inspire and enable the love of the outdoors. Terms were not disclosed.

The Yonder app debuted in 2015. Yonder’s social networking platform connects outdoor enthusiasts, created for everyone from backyard explorers to backcountry adventurers. The app offers geo-located images and videos around the globe of more than 20,000 destinations.

The Yonder app features 25 activities such as biking, kayaking, climbing and skiing that mirror Upventur’s outdoor verticals. Since its launch, Yonder has built a social community exceeding 500,000 users.

Upventur said adding the Yonder app and its community of outdoor enthusiasts to the company’s platform will further connect fellow adventurists, offering them a bigger audience to share, post, tag and explore. With Upventur’s platform of extensive content and featured Adventure Guides on the site, Yonder followers will now have the opportunity to explore and book their next outdoor experience from the app.

“Today’s consumers want information relevant to their specific interests. With Upventur’s custom AI platform, we can gather key data points and offer our outdoor community exactly the kind of targeted content, experiences and trips they are interested in,” said Craig Pettigrew, founder and CEO of Upventur.

Upventur will maintain the Yonder brand and name at this time with rebranding at a later date. Current Yonder users will maintain their existing profile and receive instructions for Upventur login. Consumers can find the Yonder app in both Apple and Android app stores.
