UNLV agreed to a three-year contract extension with Nike. Nike will remain the exclusive athletic footwear, apparel and accessories sponsor of UNLV Athletics.
The new apparel contract is valued at $9 million in retail product and doubles the annual Nike product allotment to UNLV over the previous agreement.
“UNLV’s positive momentum continues with the extension of our long-standing affiliation with one of the most recognizable brands in the world,” said Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois. “We appreciate the input we received throughout this inclusive process from our coaches and staff, as well as from our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, who had an important voice in the process. We are excited for the future and grateful for Nike’s commitment to UNLV Athletics.”
Tony Sanchez, UNLV football head coach said, “Our relationship with Nike has helped our football program develop a memorable Las Vegas-branded look that is a big part of what we’re doing here as we celebrate our great city. We look forward to continuing to work with such a great partner.”
T.J. Otzelberger, UNLV men’s basketball head coach said, “The Runnin’ Rebels have been wearing Nike for decades and it is a big reason why our program is recognized globally. Kathy Olivier, UNLV women’s basketball head coach, said, “We are extremely happy to continue our long-standing relationship. Nike has been outstanding partners with UNLV and the Lady Rebels and the equipment, gear and shoes are second to none. Being a Nike school is a huge benefit to our program and our student-athletes, as well as with our recruiting.”
Sean Gage, UNLV swimmer and co-president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, said, “As a member of the UNLV Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s leadership group, I appreciated the opportunity to be involved in the process. The student-athletes at UNLV have enjoyed being able to wear Nike gear and look forward to continuing with such a great brand.”
