United Sports Brands, a leading provider of athletic performance and protective gear, will transition its brand properties in Canada from a distributor model to a subsidiary business structure.
Beginning July 1 under General Manager Doug Hayes, Cutters’ sales representatives will offer McDavid products directly to USB’s Canadian retail partners.
“United Sports Brands is known for offering athletes the best when it comes to preparation, protection and recovery, as evident with our recent Shock Doctor and NBA partnership,” said Tony Armand, CEO of United Sports Brands. “Our commitment to providing the best extends to our retailers, as we evolve our corporate structure to improve operations and business relations. Doug’s leadership in the Canadian market has been critical in making our current distribution model function smoothly, and we’re looking forward to growing into an integrated provider.”
In order to provide support for the new subsidiary model, USB Canada will expand the joint Cutters/McDavid sales force with new hires in the Manitoba/Saskatchewan and Eastern/Northern Ontario regions. The company will transition Nathan to a subsidiary model beginning Jan 1, 2017.
Assisting with the transition is Trisha Partington, who joined USB Canada as brand manager earlier this June. Partington brings 15 years of experience in the sporting goods industry, previously working for In-Sport Fashions and growing sales for Nathan across Canada.
Customer service for McDavid and Cutters will remain based in the U.S.
