Under Armour Inc. on Thursday will open its first retail location at the newly expanded Westfield Annapolis Mall in Maryland.

The 4,500-square-foot store is made to look like what’s underground at
a stadium and is intentionally designed to recreate the feeling
generated by one of Under Armour'scommercials. Customers walk into the
windowless store from the mall through a tunnel. Videos play on large
screens and music is pumped through the store. The dressing rooms are
fitted with heat-radiated floors.

Christopher Hufnagel, senior director for retail at Under Armour, told
The Daily Record in Maryland that prototype will help.Under Armour
better reach mall customers.

“Until now, customers have not been able to walk into a mall and buy
Under Armour,” he said. “This is a channel that the brand has left
open, and now we have the ability to try and make an impact in the
market.”

As part of the grand opening, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis will make an
appearance at the Under Armour store Saturday, and figure skating
champion Kimmie Meissner from Bel Air will be there Sunday.

The Under Armour store is part of a 240,000-square foot expansion at
the Annapolis mall. Sixty stores and restaurants will debut on Thursday.
