After a five-year hiatus, Under Armour and the National Football League have inked a long-term partnership, under which Under Armour will become an official footwear and glove partner of the NFL. UA and the NFL had a 14-year partership run through the 2020 season.
This new agreement is said to affirm both brands’ commitments to innovation in athletic performance, fan engagement and youth development.
Under Armour’s partnership with the NFL will include the following components:
- The NFL will support Under Armour grassroots initiatives, such as the UA Next platform, to promote youth sports and development;
- Under Armour will receive rights and IP to include UA logos on on-field UA footwear and gloves; and
- Under Armour will have access to NFL media platforms, content creators and distribution channels to further collaborate on content and initiatives for on-field and in-game exposure.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
For decades, Under Armour has been a driving force in player development, guiding athletes of all genders at every stage of their football journey. Through pioneering resources and expert mentorship, Under Armour plays a critical role in enhancing the skills of both tackle and flag football players, while shaping the next generation of professional talent. Under Armour will continue to support the NFL’s efforts in revolutionizing the game and the pursuit of innovation through products and athlete performance – from cleats designed to promote speed to gloves that are engineered for the perfect catch.
“At Under Armour, we’re passionate about nurturing talent and transforming the way athletes perform. We know what it takes to succeed on the field,” offered Sean Eggert, SVP, global sports marketing, Under Armour, Inc. “With a shared dedication to investing in the game, from the pros to grassroots, we’re thrilled to continue shaping the future of the sport alongside the NFL.”
Under Armour said the multiyear partnership is a further demonstration of Under Armour and the National Football League’s ongoing efforts to support their players on and off the field, provide fan first experiences and lead expansion of the game amongst all levels of play.
“The NFL is excited to embark on this partnership with Under Armour, bringing their innovative products to NFL football to enhance player performance,” added Joe Ruggiero, consumer products, National Football League. “With the partnership, we hope to continue engaging current and future football players and fans around the world.”
