The Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, announced two new online graduate programs in global apparel supply chain management, including a new Master’s degree concentration and a new certificate.
“The apparel industry is a worldwide enterprise requiring savvy professionals armed with a unique blend of skills,” says McRae C. Banks, Dean of the Bryan School. “Those preparing themselves for leadership roles need to understand consumer behavior, industry trends and how to manage supply chains across the far reaches of the globe.”
UNCG’s MS degree in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies with the new concentration in Global Apparel Supply Chain Management is a 31 credit-hour program. It can be completed online in just two years, with no thesis required. The courses offered range from apparel-industry buying behaviors to transportation, logistics and distribution management.
The University’s graduate certificate in Global Apparel Supply Chain Management is a 15 credit-hour program that can be completed in a single year. The credit hours earned can be applied towards a Master’s if a student later chooses to pursue an advanced degree.
Both programs are supported by the Bryan School’s 20-member Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies Advisory Board. Members include representatives from major apparel, retail and textile products firms who support students with scholarships, internships and career placement.
Advisory Board member Rod Hewitt, VP of human resources-supply chain at VF Corporation, says the new online programs are ideal for companies who want to hone the supply chain skills of their managers. “With a VF Global Supply Chain located in more than 40 countries around the world, we need programs our managers can access easily and with the flexibility to accommodate their schedule,” Hewitt says. “These new programs will definitely meet the needs of future supply chain leaders.”
