According to Golf Datatech, U.S. rounds of golf played rose 13 percent in February 2022 compared to February 2021.
The gain followed a decline of 12.2 percent in January 2022. For the year-to-date period, rounds were down 0.2 percent.
By region in the month of February, the biggest year-over-year gain was seen in Mid-Atlantic, up 107.1 percent, followed West North Central, 33.5 percent; South Atlantic, 25.2 percent; South Central, 20.1 percent; and Pacific, 1.0 percent. Declining regions included New England, down 49.1 percent; East North Central, 8.1 percent; and Mountain, 0.5 percent.
Play at the nation’s golf courses had declined since last June as the industry faced tough comparisons against pandemic-related surges in the year-ago period.
