Although the Millennial generation isn’t the core customer group of airlines, hotels, and travel companies, it will be in five-to-ten years when Millennials enter their peak earning, spending, and traveling years.
Millennials are opting for experiences over possessions. Expedia’s recently released 2018 air travel outlook report shows that 74 percent of 18 to 65-year-olds would rather spend their money on experiences than possessions, with 65 percent of 22 to 35-year-olds setting aside money specifically for travel.
The study found that travel is a high priority for Generation Wanderlut and close to half of Millenials would sell clothes or furniture to fund a trip with 71 percent of Gen Z getting a part-time job to travel.
