<span style="color: #808080;">Inspired by cross country and marathon season, Tracksmith and Polartec created the Franklin Fleece for high output training in cold weather.

The two Boston-area brands introduce the Franklin Fleeces for women and men for cross country and marathon season when cooler temperatures signal a shift to longer, but no less intense, workouts and races.

In designing Tracksmith’s Fall 2018 collection, the two brands collaborated on a performance fleece specifically designed for runners that would retain warm, breathability and enough range of motion to handle high output training in cold weather. Polartec’s classic double velour micro fleece was selected for its hydrophobic polyester yarns which repel moisture and speed dry times, while the lofted construction retains warm and breathability. The fleece was then combined with a nylon-elastane blend in the underarms and side panels for full range of motion.

In 1981 Polartec engineered polar fleece which, at the time, transformed the industry and was the most durable and versatile insulation and outerwear fabric. Continuously refined over forty years, Polartec fleece remains a cold weather performance go-to for its lightweight warmth and fast-drying properties. Photos courtesy Tracksmith x Polartec
