The Executive Board of Mammut Sports Group AG has decided to cease production of Toko cross-country ski poles in order to be able to concentrate more fully on the manufacture and distribution of waxing and cleaning products, the core competency of the Toko brand. The decision has been prompted by the high costs of ski pole development and production. Sales of poles will cease at the end of May 2005.

Since its acquisition by Mammut Sports Group AG, Toko has been chalking up truly excellent sales figures, and will in future continue to develop its core Wax & Tools business with its focus on the snow sports market.

Toko is also continuing with the Cross Country line of high-grade and functional gloves, sportswear and accessories it launched two years ago, and intends increasingly to leverage the Mammut brand’s know-how in textiles.

The termination of pole production will have an impact on general operating costs and internal activities in the short term. The Executive Board is nonetheless confident that this decision will bring about a marked enhancement in Toko’s competitiveness and evolution in the international market.
