The TJX Companies, Inc. reported sales for the four-week period ended Feb. 25, 2012, were $1.6 billion, up 12% over the $1.5 billion achieved during the four-week period ended Feb. 26, 2011. Consolidated comparable store sales for the four-week period ended Feb. 25, 2012 increased 9% compared to last year.


“We are very pleased that our momentum continued to build to a strong finish in February and to have posted a 9% increase in consolidated comparable store sales for the month,” said CEO Carol Meyrowitz. “We believe that very favorable weather patterns during the month helped boost demand for spring apparel. We are particularly pleased that traffic was up at all of our divisions, driving excellent performance across the board. With inventories in terrific shape, we are extremely well positioned to continue to bring great brands and fashions at compelling values to our customers.”


A leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide, TJX operates 984 T.J. Maxx, 884 Marshalls, and 374 HomeGoods stores in the United States; 216 Winners, 86 HomeSense, and 6 Marshalls stores in Canada; and 332 T.K. Maxx and 24 HomeSense stores in Europe.
