Therabody announced the Therabody Performance Team, an inaugural collective of six athletes “who excel in athleticism and redefine what it means to be a high-performance athlete today.”
The initiative celebrates athletes evolving their athletic events, elevating others and embracing recovery as a critical part of their journey, often without access to the recovery tools and support systems that elite teams take for granted.
The Therabody Performance Team includes:
- Ezra Frech (Track & Field), two-time Paralympic gold medalist, motivational speaker and Co-Founder of Angel City Sports;
- Phil Gaimon (Cyclist), two-time World Hillclimb Champion and entrepreneur, who is building an inclusive ride culture and hosting community-drive events, including Cookie Fondo in Malibu, CA;
- Andrew Jackson (Cyclist), a Los Angeles-based cyclist who transitioned from professional BMX to road and gravel racing, remains committed to reshaping the sport’s image while promoting inclusivity;
- Alexi Pappas (Runner), 2016 Olympian in the 10,000-meter running event, marathon runner, author, and filmmaker, who continues to use her platform to explore mental health, resilience and the athlete’s journey;
- Chelsea Sodaro (Triathlete), 2022 Ironman World Champion, is known for her transition from elite running to triathlon competition alongside her advocacy of female athletes and her ability to balance motherhood and sports; and
- Cody Townsend (Skier), adventurer and filmmaker, is known for pushing the limits of backcountry skiing and his ambitious project “The Fifty,” Cody aims to climb and ski all 50 classic descents in North America.
“Recovery isn’t a luxury for athletes like these, it’s a necessity,” said John Solomon, chief marketing officer at Therabody. “We’re proud to support individuals who are driving sport forward. They’re bold, mission-driven and relentless in their pursuit of growth. With this team, we’re putting science, innovation and support into the hands of people who will do something meaningful with it.”
As part of the initiative, the Performance Team will have access to Therabody products, scientific research, and personalized recovery plans to optimize performance and well-being. Therabody’s education and resources will offer the athletes valuable insights into recovery, performance optimization and injury prevention, reinforcing that recovery is the key to peak performance.
Throughout the year, the company will showcase the Performance Team’s stories, focusing on the resilience, recovery and commitment each has to their sport.
