The Running Event (TRE), the running specialty conference and trade show, returns to Austin in late November and will feature a keynote presentation by Walter Robb, former Whole Foods CEO.

In a presentation is titled, “How to Create a Winning Culture in Your Store,” Robb will explain the similarities and challenges of increased competition facing both the running and grocery businesses, especially from online sellers.

In addition to Robb, speakers include: Tom Griffen, TG Training and Education; Dave Zimmer of Fleet Feet Sports-Chicago and Steve Ginsburg of RAM Racing; and Gregg Frederick, G3 Development Group.

Retailers and vendors will alsoengage in a sort of speeding dating on November 29 when 12 vendors court retail buyers by sharing their successes in a fun, time efficient format.

“It’s going to be a great way for retailers to determine whether these brands are a good ‘match’ for their stores,” said Formula4 Media’s Troy Leonard, show director.

Other show activities include:

  • Armadillo Races at the Opening Night reception, November 28
  • The Indie 5K pitting attendees against one another to determine the fastest retailer in America, November 30.
  • Best Running Stores in America Awards, Nov. 30, including a presentation of TRE’s first Lifetime Achievement Award to Meb Keflezighi.
  • A Bra Fitting Salon held throughout the trade show will help retailers maximize their profits from the number one apparel category in the business.

The event will be held at the Austin Convention Center on November 28 to December 1, 2017. An estimated 250 of the top running and running accessory brands in North America are expected to exhibit. Overall attendees are expected to reach  2,700.
