At the All-Star Game festivities in Dallas this week, fans will get their first peek at the new Rbk EDGE Uniform System, which was developed by Reebok and will become the standard for the NHL in the 2007/2008 season. Teams are not expected to unveil their own new jerseys until sometime before the start of next season, but sources at Reebok say six teams are taking this opportunity to completely redesign their current uniforms. The overall effect of these design changes is a slimmer fitting uniform, but one that still manages to look like a hockey uniform. Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL, said of the new unis, “it was not about style, it was about new materials” and that the design had a “performance focus from day one.”
