The National Golf Foundation reports that rounds played for the month of January decreased 4.3%, compared to the same period last year.
The group noted that this downturn does not necessarily bode poorly for the year ahead as January typically only accounts for roughly 3% of total rounds played for the full year.
However, rounds were down 3.9% in Central/South Florida and 14.5% in the Southwest, regions that do tend to have a significant amount of play during the month. The Gulf Coast and South Central regions both saw increases for the month.
