The Buckle Inc. reported comparable store sales increased 5.0 percent in December. Overall sales increased 4.8 percent to $143.9 million from $137.4 million in the same period a year ago.
Due to the later Thanksgiving holiday this year, Cyber Monday shifted from November 2018 to December 2019. The increase in online sales for the fiscal month, due to this shift, positively impacted both total and comparable store net sales. Excluding online sales, brick & mortar comparable stores increased 1.9 percent in December.
Comparable store net sales year-to-date for the 48-week period ended January 4, 2020, increased 2.0 percent. Net sales increased 1.6 percent to $853.0 million from net sales of $839.7 million for the prior year 48-week fiscal period.
Buckle currently operates 448 retail stores compared to 452 a year ago.
