The World of Adventure Sports kicks off its season Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT when Host Todd Harris of NBC Sports brings viewers the premier episode of the 2012 season from Teva Mountain Games in Vail, CO.
The upcoming episodie will feature:
- Teva Mountain Games: The World of Adventure Sports returns to explore the country's largest celebration of adventure sports, music, and the mountain lifestyle at the 2012 Teva Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado Professional and amateur outdoor adventure athletes from around the world l converge upon the mountains and rivers of Vail to compete in eight sports and 23 disciplines including: x-country, freeride, slopestyle and road cycling, freestyle, 8-Ball, sprint and extreme kayaking, raft cross, World Cup Bouldering, stand up paddle sprint and surf cross, as well as trail, mud and road running, dog comps and the GNC Ultimate Mountain Challenge.
- America's Cup Sailing – Oracle Team USA: When Oracle Team USA won the 33rd America’s Cup in February 2010, not only did team owner Larry Ellison succeed in his goal of bringing the America’s Cup “home” to the United States, but his team became the Defender of the 34th America’s Cup. Tag along as WOAS takes an exclusive inside look at the design and construction of the epic 72-foot catamaran the team will be charging into battle with at the 34th Americas Cup in September 2013. Remarkable feats of engineering and copious amounts of training aren't all that it takes to make an America's Cup champion. It also takes heart and perseverance which, luckily, Oracle Team USA has in abundance.
- GoPro Presents Darren Berrecloth: With a wide range of podium finishes and magazine covers under his belt, Darren Berrecloth is widely regarded as one of the best freeride mountain bikers in the world and shows no sign of slowing down. A hard working athlete who puts lots of effort into building unique bike features, Darren’s dedication to the sport is unmatched in the industry and now you can see the world through his eyes thanks to some unbelievable footage courtesy of the GoPro HD HERO.
- Teton Gravity Research- The Dream Factory: Fueled by the desire to explore new terrain, the TGR athletes and crew embark on a Heli-skiing pilgrimage to a relatively unexplored zone in the northwest corner of the Northern Chugach Mountain Range in Alaska. Follow Teton Gravity Research on this adventure of exploration as they ski big mountain first descents in Alaska while filming for their 2012 ski and snowboard film “The Dream Factory.”
