TenCate SouthernMills has granted an exclusive patent license to Massif Mountain Gear Company for the manufacture and sale of flame-resistant fleece fabrics and garments to the United States Military. The license relates to U.S. Patent 5,727,401 for “Fire Resistant Fleece Fabric and Garment” owned by TenCate SouthernMills.

The companies also said that this patent license agreement is part of a larger effort to combine the knowledge and expertise of both companies in order to supply the Military with flame-resistant fleece fabrics.

“In looking for a long-term partner in the flame-resistant fleece sector, we found that Massif leads the field in market share, performance, quality, and speed of innovation and is the perfect partner to help bring our patented technologies to market,” said Don Olsen, CEO of TenCate Protective Fabrics USA.

“There is an obvious synergy between the companies for future development efforts.”

Jeff Roberts, CEO of Massif Mountain Gear Company, said TenCate’s sterling reputation as the world leader in flame-resistant fabric technology was a key factor in forging the new relationship. “Everyone who has an understanding of the major players in the personal protective fabrics industry knows that the TenCate Protective Fabrics team is second to none in research, development, and manufacturing expertise,” Roberts said.
