Team New Balance athletes Jenny Simpson broke an American Record while four members of the Women’s Distance Medley Relay (DMR), which included Sarah Brown, Brenda Martinez, Mahogany Jones and Megan Krumpoch, broke a World Record at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Roxbury, MA.
 
With a time of 9:18.35, Simpson broke the 13-year-old American record of 9:23.38, previously set by Regina Jacobs. Simpson is coming off of a tremendous 2014 season where she won the IAAF Diamond League title in the 1500m as well as the U.S. outdoor national title in the same distance. This follows a 2013 season where Simpson won the silver medal in the 1500m at the world championships in Moscow, Russia becoming the most decorated American woman in that event and in 2011 won the gold medal at the world championships in Daegu, South Korea.
 
The second record of the evening belongs to Team New Balance athletes Sarah Brown, Brenda Martinez, Mahogany Jones and Megan Krumpoch who shattered the Women’s DMR World Record with a time of 10:42.57. The DMR race features four legs starting with the 1200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m. The 2015 new Balance Grand Prix marks the first running of this event in the meet’s 20-year history. Brown led the team out of the gate taking the 1200m leg and giving the team a strong start. Brown  owned the previous DMR world record with members of her University of Tennessee team with a time of 10:50.98 set in 2009. Jones, a recent graduate of Penn State University ran the 400m and Krumpoch took on the 800m leg before handing off to Martinez for the final 1600m. Martinez, the 2013 IAAF World Championships bronze medalist at 800 meters, anchored the team and regained the lead before being passed briefly on the final lap but given her strong kick brought it home giving the team a new World Record.
