Tailwind Nutrition celebrates its 10th Anniversary this month with a limited-edition Orange/Vanilla Sunshine Recovery Mix.
In 2012, athlete Jeff Vierling founded the company to find a better nutrition solution for endurance athletes after competing in the Leadville 100 for multiple years.
The company’s first product, Endurance Fuel, solved common issues that endurance athletes experience, including stomach upset, tracking calories, electrolytes, and hydration, and the often too-sweet taste of sports drinks. Recovery Mix, the brand’s second product, contains complete protein made from rice protein and amino acids, carbohydrates, and electrolytes.
“Ten years ago, we launched Tailwind Nutrition with the mission of being a support crew, helping athletes achieve their goals with simple, proven nutrition and cheering them on every step of the way. The amazing stories customers share inspire us every day, and we’re incredibly grateful Tailwind can help them reach their personal goals,” said Vierling.
Tailwind Co-Founder and wife Jenny Vierling continued, “another major part of our mission in starting Tailwind was—and continues to be—to manufacture Tailwind Nutrition products in our local community at the base of the San Juan Mountains in Southwest Colorado. Creating jobs, developing a community asset and giving back has been immensely rewarding.”
To celebrate the Anniversary, Tailwind Nutrition is offering a limited edition Orange Vanilla Sunshine Recovery Mix, with 10 percent of the proceeds benefiting Bigger Than the Trail. This non-profit uses trail running as a platform to advocate for mental health. Other anniversary events include:
- sponsoring the 2022 Iron Horse, held in Ouray-Silverton, CO, where Vierling launched the Tailwind brand. The route covers 3,300 feet of vertical gain in 23 miles over the Red Mountain Pass.
- sponsoring the Dual Slalom and Roost Master mountain bike events at Chapman Hill, CO;
- partnering with Ska Brewing and Steamworks Brewing Co. to contribute to its annual Iron Horse beer collaboration, marking the company’s first beer collaboration. This year, Faceplant, a light lager is infused with Tailwind’s Mandarin Orange electrolytes.
- introduced a rewards program where members have access to new products and receive discounts.
